The California Background Investigators Association (CBIA) is dedicated to serving all areas of public safety (police, sheriff, fire, etc.) with regards to background investigations. CBIA offers specialized training for background investigations, providing the most current information regarding new laws and regulations, in addition to policies and procedures outlined by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

CBIA hosts three quarterly training meetings throughout the year, ending with an annual training symposium in December. CBIA provides topics of interest relating to all facets of pre-employment and background investigations, including recruit and lateral entry requirements and other important areas of background investigations for your applicants, e.g., credit, DMV and military records issues, legal updates and training, and new POST guidelines. CBIA also offers strong networking ties with links to numerous agencies throughout the state. All our speakers/trainers are well known experts in their fields and have offered our members their years of experience in background investigations. CBIA also posts and notifies its members when future background investigation courses and background update classes will be offered. CBIA is proud to have over 550 members statewide.
